Some Interesting Facts and Proud Moments
In 2010, David did the commencement speech for Northeast State Community College.
David has worked with three of Tennessee’s largest learning organizations (TVA, University of Tennessee, and Eastman Chemical Company).
Worked with the team to launch the 1st online degree program in the state at the Univ. of TN in additional to recommending the selection of the campus-wide learning management system that is currently deploying online education to over 50,000 students throughout the state.
Lead the project team that developed an integrated global learning portal that’s supports training and education for all Eastman employees.
Designed and developed training for supported employment consultants who help individuals with disabilities get back to work. I remember when... “One day while I was working on some online training for a group I was consulting with at U.T., I got a call from a non-profit group called ETTAC (East TN Technology Assistance Center) who wanted to see if I could come down and teach one of their clients how to build webpages. I was a little nervous, but said "yes!" I met a young man who at the time, was 21 (which was around my age at the time). He had CP (cerebral palsy) and was confined to a wheel chair. He wanted to learn how to build webpages, but he couldn’t speak, couldn’t use his hands, and could only move his head to control an on-screen keyboard…one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done...but most rewarding. It took weeks to create one page, but he was so excited to have done it all by himself. It made me realize how fortunate we are to be able to wake up everyday and have an opportunity to be a positive impact on somebody’s quality of life…something that each of us can do, but just need to take the time to do." Rolled out what has been called by leading safety consulting experts as “one of the best internally developed safety culture instruments in the industry” which assesses safety culture and areas for improvement for Eastman.
Worked with the team to develop a formal new employee Onboarding process for Eastman. Also worked with talent management leadership on the systemic design of HR systems used to educate management on various aspects and roles of HR within the company.
