My main day job is college professor. I've enjoyed teaching since I was in high-school when I first volunteered as a computer teacher for a non-profit mental health organization in Kingsport, TN which helped people with disabilities. In college, I received a scholarship to be part of an innovative team which put the first online Human Resource degree. I taught instructors and students how to build online courses, create streaming audio/video, and how to use various web technologies.
While working for Eastman Chemical Company, I taught night classes at various local colleges which eventually led to more full-time teaching opportunities. I've taught diverse groups ranging from corporate HR employees from Korea's Samsung organization to college business students. It is amazing that when an individual enjoys learning and applying that teaching seems to come naturally. Even deeper is the need to help someone experience that "ah - ha" moment. Years ago, I read a book or article which talked about how learning is one of the most satisfying experiences one can have in their life. We don't think much about how learning gives us "satisfaction" but when you think about how it affects your confidence, self-esteem, self-reliance, and sense of accomplishment, there is a link to happiness.
I hope everyone has something that they love to do and can go teach someone else.
